A FAMILY company which provided floors for the BBC's Holby City set has again announced a record set of results.
Flooring manufacturer James Halstead, which employs 600 people at Hollinhurst Road, Radcliffe, made a profit of £11 million in the six months to December 31, a rise of 30.1 per cent on turnover of £71 million - also a record- which was up by 12.9 per cent.
Geoffrey Halstead, chairman of the company which his grandfather founded in 1915, said: "These results are very encouraging considering intensive sales activity continuing high raw material prices and high energy costs."
Last year, the company announced an £18 million investment programme which included £10m to increase production of its slip-resistant flooring, which is used in buses and trains, school corridors, industry and bars.
Mr Halstead said: "Radcliffe is achieving record levels of output. In addition, we have secured 80,000 square feet of extra warehousing near to the Radcliffe facility"
Contracts undertaken by the company include new floors for the Hilla hospital in Baghdad, and Everest base camp.
