A PARTY organiser from Horwich is again going to be flying the flag for St George's Day.

Ken Chaisty has organised another Proms-style event for England's patron saint on Sunday, April 22.

Last year, the event raised more than £1,200 for Horwich Carnival as revellers packed Horwich RMI Club, which was bedecked in red and white.

Mr Chaisty, of George Street, said: "You have never seen so many flags and bunting in all your life. It's amazing. I can't describe the atmosphere, there's nothing like it. It moves people to tears."

Mr Chaisty was spurred into action following a comment column in the Bolton Evening News which criticised the apathy of people over St George's Day. Now his patriotic party is in its third year.

Music will be provided by Smithills Senior Brass Band and Bolton's renowned classical guitarist Neil Smith.

Compere will be Michael Tatman from Bolton Little Theatre and the musical finale will include Land of Hope And Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem.

The concert, which is staged on the eve of St George's Day, starts at 7.30pm and all money raised will to the Horwich Carnival.
