Name, age and where are you from?
Terry Flynn, over 40, originally from Poynton, Cheshire, and now living in Bolton.
When and where did you start DJ-ing?
I started DJ'ing in the '70s as a mobile rock show and then had various residencies in rock venues, including The Phoenix, Manchester.
What type of music do you play and who are your influences?
I only play rock, including all sub genres, such as mainstream rock, progressive rock, blues rock, space rock, electronic synth rock and heavy metal.
My main influences have been Hawkwind, the German prog bands — generally labelled as Krautrock — and, more recently, anything that Steven Wilson has anything to do with.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
Mmm, not sure about that one. Back in the original Phoenix days, used to fill the venue on weekend nights (capacity 200).
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?
No, I have a 'proper' day job!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hope it's not stoking the fires down below.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about you?
Everything's unusual.
Upcoming gigs?
Monthly Phoenix Rising Rock Nites at The Britons Protection, Great Bridgewater Street, Manchester, on May 30, June 27 and July 25, from 8pm until midnight. Entry is £3.
