TOWN planners have asked for more information before considering an application to build more than 78 homes within Westhoughton's green belt.

Miller Homes has asked Bolton Council for permission to build 78 properties on the former Greenvale Works factory site, off Leigh Road. The site is on a pocket of former industrial, brownfield land, within the green belt.

But at this week's meeting Westhoughton Town Council, members said they were unable to consider recommending approval with the information available to them. They have asked to see more detailed site maps.

Town councillor David Chadwick said: "The plan does not show any proposal with regard to the layout. We have not got sufficient information at the moment to reach a conclusion."
