THE Bolton Golf Association host their annual match against the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs at Turton on Sunday when they hope to stem a losing run since their last success in 2010.
Team captain, Bill Bromilow, has posted his best team available which includes the 2014 BGA champion, Liam Ball of Turton and runner-up Gareth Hastie of Bolton.
Bromilow said: “Of course the Sheffield Union have some 24 clubs to choose from against only fourteen in the BGA.
"But we have a strong team sheet and, on the day, there is only twelve on each side and I see no reason why we can’t turn them over on Sunday.”
Liam Ball will partner his Turton club mate, Andy Brindle, in the morning foursomes while Hastie will accompany his Bolton colleague Josh Ashton.
Mark Latham, who has recently moved from Regent Park to Hart Common, will join Joe Whittaker of Great Lever while the Harwood brothers, Anthony and Ian Stirling, will hope to finish with a successful partnership.
Aarron Watkinson of Old Links stepped in late to replace club mate Steve Bryan and will now partner Bolton’s Mark Millhouse in the morning.
The young Turton duo of Callam McPhillips and Matthew Smith, have been long standing colleagues during their time as juniors and will hope to provide at least a win in the foursomes.
The match will conclude with 12 singles matches.
