Sayings by Bolton folk - both celebrities, or simply soon-to-be-famous for being local - are now being immortalised in Bolton town centre.
Work to lay plaques bearing their words among the paving stones in the revamped Churchgate finally got underway today.
A total of seven plaques will be placed in the area.
Work on the £900,000 Bolton In Its Own Words plaques and Churchgate renovation scheme began in June last year.
Bolton Council hopes to use the street for fairs and festivals.
The granite plaques include sayings by the likes of steeplejack Fred Dibnah, comedian Dave Spikey and football commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme.
The words of two schoolchildren, Callum Hodson, of Daubhill, and Muryum Khan, of Great Lever, will also be included after the pair won a Bolton Council competition.
