YOGA with dogs and jogging yoga — just two of the activities which will be showcased at an event for fans of the ancient practice.
Yogis from Bolton and Bury will descend on the OM Yoga Show Manchester, taking place at EventCity, Trafford, next month.
From May 15 to 17, it will feature 100 exhibitors, free open classes, intensive workshops, stage performances and leading teachers from across the world.
Visitors will be able to find out more about yogging, a combination of yoga and jogging; laughter yoga, a fun way to learn how to focus your breathing, and dog yoga — also known as doga — a class designed for dogs and their human companions.
A spokesman for the event said: "The OM Yoga Show is going to be great fun, our event team have put together such a fantastic mix of yoga activities that everyone can either take part in or just watch and be inspired.
"For many people, the show is an introduction to yoga — an activity that can literally change your life.
"So come prepared to take a class, our teachers are amongst the best in the world so all visitors, no matter what their ability, can be confident they are in expert hands."
The doga class promises to be an intriguing feature, with leading instructor Mahny Djahanguiri who believes dogs benefit from yoga as much as their human companions.
The practice, which originated in the USA and has since made its way around the world, activates the parasympathetic nervous system of canine friends through sound and touch.
People can practise 'human' yoga while performing canine acupressure and massage on the pup, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.
Mahny, an experienced Ashtanga teacher, founded her company, Dogmahny, in 2012 and was invited to run intensive doga workshops by Harrods.
She says no dogs are forced to stretch in doga. Instead, the owner performs traditional Hatha yoga postures, suited to their level, while the dog is free to roam around and participate whenever they want to.
She calls it an organic and nurturing experience in which the owner and the dog bond through the ancient tradition of yoga.
Along with her furry friend, Robbie the Maltese Terrier, she will be bringing the world of doga to the OM Yoga Show Manchester.
The class is suitable for all sizes, breeds and temperaments, though dogs have to have been vaccinated.
Places in the class are limited, register at omyogashow.com/doga.
