Horwich RMI running ace Jamie Crompton is celebrating after being selected to race for England in this weekend's home international in Dublin.
The talented 14-year-old has been picked on the strength of a superb run in last Saturday's ESAA English Schools' National Cross-Country Championships, where he finished eighth in the 3.65K Junior Boys race Jamie's confidence has grown throughout the season, during which his hard work and dedication brought him the U15s SE Lancs Cross-Country League title and the GM Schools' title.
Jamie's coach, Ian Smith, said: "There is no doubt Jamie can achieve a great deal in athletics".
Two other Horwich RMI Harriers competed at Leeds in the Inter-Girls race; April Stevenson finishing 51st and Bethan Faulkner 215th.
