BUDDING journalists swapped their classroom for the newsroom.
Year six pupils at St Thomas of Canterbury RC Primary, in Bolton, held a newspaper day as they took part in the Times Educational Supplement's young journalists of the year competition.
The young reporters spent a day researching stories to put in their paper.
Cecilia Taylor, deputy headteacher, said: "It was very exciting for the children putting together their own paper.
"They really enjoyed it and the end product was of a really high quality.
"As well as the day being an enjoyable activity, it also had educational benefits, such as in improving writing and researching skills."
The children will find out in May whether they have won the competition.
If successful the class will be invited to the Houses of Parliament to receive their certificate.
