The Mets prevented any celebration by Accrington who were playing their last match before moving to Blackburn.
Bolton conceded a soft try early on, but Mike Blakeway then walked in a try in the corner. Blakeway repeated the score with a carbon-copy try.
The Mets were back in charge after the break and Phil Slinn scooted in under the posts. Slinn jinked his way over again before Chris Taylor got in the act by racing from the base of the scrum to finish the game off.
