RADCLIFFE Borough made the trip to North Yorkshire to play Harrogate Railway and returned with a hard-fought 1-0 victory and their first away win of the season.
Boro started brightly, putting pressure on the Harrogate defence to immediate effect with two early chances.
Harrogate won a free kick with Lawrence Hunter shooting straight into the arms of Boro goalkeeper Chris Cheetham.
Boro’s Richard Smith and Matt Davies were working well in midfield and an effort from Davies was hit straight at the Harrogate 'keeper.
Then, Danny Lambert’s corner found the head of Kevin McGrath but his effort went wide.
After 26 minutes, Boro keeper Cheetham was lucky to see an effort by Harrogate just clear the bar.
Good defence from Boro in the opening half meant Harrogate hardly had a shot on goal.
The last Boro attack of the first period saw Sam McMahon combine with Steve Foster who, in turn, shot directly at the Harrogate keeper.
In the second half, Harrogate came close to opening the scoring with an effort from striker Malachi Farquharson that went just wide of the post.
Boro’s Clevon Beadle then found McMahon, who just failed to find an all-important final touch.
But McMahon did not have to wait long to get on the scoresheet as Boro won a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, taken by Smith and slotted into the net by the striker.
Boro continued to run at the Harrogate defence but, with the Harrogate stopper well out of his area, substitute Matt Landregan could only shoot wide of the target.
Jack Hindle was replaced by Bevan Burey, who got into the game immediately and failed to connect with a shot just short of the byline.
In stoppage time, with all the Boro travelling supporters calling for the final whistle to be blown, Landregan fired one last shot wide.
BORO: Cheetham, Knowles (McLoughlin), Lambert, Lafferty (c), McGrath, Smith, Beadle, Davies, Foster, McMahon (Landregan), Hindle (Burey). Not used: Brown and Jackson.
