A BUTCHER has brought home the bacon with two prestigious awards for his fresh meat.
Greg Hill, who owns Fraser Butchers, in Rishton Lane, Great Lever, Bolton, scooped the Best Prepared Fresh Produce and Greater Manchester Producer of the Year accolades at the 2007 North West (NW) Fine Food Awards.
The family-run butchers' stuffed pork loin won them praise from a panel of 40 judges, including celebrity chefs, Nigel Howarth and Paul Askew.
The business beat competition from more than 500 competitors. Mr Hull, was presented with his award at a gala dinner at Manchester's Lowry Hotel hosted by regional food marketers, NW Fine Food.
Mr Hull, aged 47, who has run the butcher's shop for 15 years, said: "We introduced our stuffed pork loin six-months-ago and it's been flying out of the shop so we decided to enter it into the competition.
"The secret is quality produce. We remain successful because we use the finest raw ingredients so when customers get their meat home and cook it they get good results. To win the awards when we were up against people at the top of the game is a real honour."
