1883: July 21 - Bolton's new Infirmary and Chadwick Wing for Children opened.
1883: August 21 - Bolton New Infirmary overlooking Bolton Park, Chorley Road, was opened.
1884: January 4 - Housekeeper at Kearsley Cottage murdered by butler.
1884: February 17 - The Albert Hotel burnt out, eight people had a narrow escape.
1884: June 12 - Chadwick Museum, Bolton, opened by Ald Dobson.
1884: July 6 - St Augustine's Church, Tonge Moor was opened.
1884: July 31 - Two young men drowned while swimming in Coffin Lodge, Bolton Moor.
1884: August 19 - Bolton in political turmoil over Franchise Bill, unrest and demonstrations.
1884: August 29 - FR Chadwick, Westhoughton Silk Manufacturer, drowned.
1884: September 27 - Bridgeman Street bridge was demolished to make way for railway improvements.
