POLICE are appealing for two motorists to come forward and help them piece together the final movements of a teenager who died after being knocked down on the M61.
Sean Green, aged 17, was hit by a car as he tried to cross the M61 between Horwich and Westhoughton late at night.
He died at Hope Hospital, Salford, on March 14, three days after suffering extensive head injuries in the accident.
Motorway police are now asking two drivers who may have seen the teenager to come forward. Just prior the accident, Sean was caught on CCTV walking towards the motorway on Chew Moor Lane.
Sgt John Jameson, who is leading the investigation, said: "Sean is seen walking on the road on Chew Moor Lane under the bridge.
"The CCTV footage we have shows that two cars passed him at about midnight and would have noticed him as he was in the road.
"There are no witnesses to the accident so far, so we need to speak to both these motorists to try and piece together what happened, and they seem to be the only witnesses to have seen Sean before the accident."
Sean's funeral will take place on Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Church on Lord Street, Westhoughton.
The 39-year-old driver of the Fiat Punto which hit Sean in the early hours of Sunday March 11 was not injured.
Witnesses, particularly the two motorists, are asked to ring 0161 856 8361 or 0161 856 1548.
