THE popular farmers' market at Moss Bank Park has been given a stay of execution - because Bolton Council bosses cannot decide where to move it.

Sunday's market was due to be the last at the current venue because town hall chiefs say the park's disabled car park, where it is held, is too small for the growing number of stalls.

But now they have announced a new date for the farmers' market at Moss Bank Park and temporarily suspended their plans to relocate it.

Sunday's market will be followed by another at Moss Bank Park on April 22 A council spokesman said: "We are finalising details of a permanent home for the farmers' market and we hope to be able to make an announcement about the site soon. The market will continue to be held at the park in April and stallholders can look forward to a new, permanent home from May."

A number of possible Bolton town centre and out-of-town sites are being considered by the council, including Ashburner Street .

The monthly farmers' market, which has 28 stalls, was originally held at Smithills Hall, but mnoved from there a year ago.

The decision to move it again sparked outrage among traders, who claimed they would lose customers. They said the current site was is adequate.

Chef Michael Cole, is appearing at the market tomorrow and will be presenting cooking demonstrations between 10am and noon Mr Cole is the head chef at the Lancaster House Hotel's award-winning restaurant in Lancaster.

In addition to the cookery demonstrations, there will be a children's entertainer and face painting.

Cllr Ismail Ibrahim said: "The Farmers' Market has been a real success in Bolton and it seems to be going from strength to strength. We are pleased to welcome guests like Michael and hope to arrange similar attractions for visitors in the future."
