A WHEELCHAIR-bound man and his wife attacked each other with Samurai swords during a row.
Paramedics were called to their flat in Seymour Road, Astley Bridge, after one of them rang 999 to say they had both suffered injuries.
The man, aged 50, who has had a leg amputated and uses a wheelchair, suffered cuts to his fingers and the woman, aged 41, was found with a gash on her hand.
Both were taken in the to the Royal Bolton Hospital in the same ambulance.
Paramedics called police and the pair were spoken to by officers at the hospital and later discharged.
Neither has made a complaint to police and no investigation is being conducted. The pair told police they had been arguing earlier and were "mucking around" when the injuries were sustained.
The swords were being kept for ornamental purposes.
A police source said: "This appears to have been an argument which has got a bit out of control and ended in the couple becoming violent.
"Although there has been no report of an assault from either party, it is believed the injuries were caused during a disturbance.
"Between the ambulance being called and officers speaking to the pair, it would appear that a reconciliation has taken place and the matter won't be taken any further."
