ANDY Bishop has vowed to rediscover his goalscoring form in the final eight games of the season for Bury.

It has been nine games since the 17-goal striker last found the net, in a 2-2 draw at Lincoln City.

Bishop strike partner Glynn Hurst has picked up the slack in recent weeks, scoring twice in his last two games, but the Midlander has forecast that both men can guide the club to safety as a disappointing League two campaign draws to a climax.

"I have always had confidence that I can score goals, and I'm sure another one isn't very far away," Bishop said.

"Luckily, Glynn has been superb for us recently - and it is always a sign of a great partnership when one striker can pick things up like that and start scoring goals.

"If we would have had him from the start of the season, we wouldn't be where we are now."

Bishop is expecting some sleepless nights soon, with his partner expecting their first child in October. But last season's top scorer in the Conference has wasted no sleep worrying about whether his current club will be playing out of league football for the first time in their history next season.

"We are definitely good enough to stay up, the players are a great bunch of lads," Bishop said.

"What you have to understand is that we are a very young side, a lot of the lads haven't played a full season in their career.

"That's why I think that if we can keep most of the players together, we can really push on next year."

Notts County visit Gigg Lane tomorrow having failed to win in their last seven games.

Steve Thompson's side are floating in mid-table, and Bishop believes a similar performance to that in the 1-1 draw against Macclesfield last Saturday will see the Shakers through.

"After the game, the lads were down because of the penalty we gave away late on," the striker explained.

"But we talked about it, and realised that we had played well, we couldn't have done any more.

"We just needed to move on to the next game and make sure we stay strong defensively."

Chris Casper is likely to name an unchanged side from the one which drew last weekend, but there will be changes on the bench after striker Tony Bedeau's loan spell from Walsall was not renewed.

That could be good news for Tom Youngs, who scored the winning goal for the reserves in midweek against Chester.

The club have also confirmed they are working to extend Darren Kempson and Jason Kennedy's deal until the end of the season.
