A CHARITY night is being held in memory of teenager Julian Brooks, who took his own life, aged 17, after suffering from depression.
His pal, Vikky Gregson, has organised an event at The Doffcocker Inn, Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on Saturday - it would have been Julian's 21st birthday weekend.
Vikky and Julian were pupils at Blackrod Church School and Rivington and Blackrod High School. They were also students together at Wigan and Leigh College where Julian, of Farnworth, was studying graphics.
Vikky was determined to do something in his memory this weekend when he would have been celebrating.
At the event, Thai boxing expert Sandy Holt is raffling a pair of Thai boxing gloves, and there will be other raffles.
The charity night, which starts at 8pm, will raise money for PAPYRUS, a national charity which supports suicidal young people.
Vikky, who hopes many of Julian's friends and family will be attend the event, said Julian's depression had been hidden.
"We did not realise he was depressed. We all miss him terribly and wanted to do this in his memory," said Vikky, of Johnson Fold, Bolton.
