An 11-year-old girl who was injured during a collision in Altrincham today remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Two 11-year old girls were crossing Oakfield Road close to Altrincham Leisure Centre at 4.30pm yesterday when they were in collision with a Honda Civic, driven by an 80-year-old man from Hale.

Both girls were taken to Wythenshawe hospital. One received treatment to cuts and bruises and was later discharged but the other suffered serious head injuries.

The girl with head injuries was later transferred to Pendlebury Children's Hospital where she underwent surgery last night.
