ENTRIES are still coming in for the Bolton and Bury Business Business Awards 2007 and the line-up of sponsors has received another boost, with two new firms giving the event their backing.
Commercial radio station Tower FM has joined the awards as a communications partner and Bury-based telecommunications specialist Global Telecoms and Technology is sponsoring the Small Business of the Year category in the awards.
Mark Bedward, founder and owner of Global, a previous Business Award winner, said: "Small enterprises are often the life-blood of a business community, and they are the corporations of tomorrow.
"Our success shows what is possible, and we are delighted to be sponsoring this award."
Global Telecoms, which owns the prestigious Point Blue Building on Peel Way is presently located at Europa House in Bury.
Following the privatisation of the UK telecoms industry in 1984 Mr Bedward established what would become a thriving telecommunications and technology business.
Global was the first company in the world to combine business, telecommunications, computer, security and internet systems resulting in huge benefits to businesses through a brand new Global product developed in Bury.
More than 100 new companies every month now benefit from such improvements brought to them via Global's expanding business which includes 130 business advisers, customer service and engineering personnel.
There are 11 categories in this year's Bolton and Bury Business Business Awards, several of which have already attracted top names including the Royal Bank of Scotland, accountants CLB Coopers, KBL solicitors, bakers Warburtons, solicitors Clough and Willis, and Goss Marble.
Following on from last year's event the awards will be held in the Premier Suite at the Reebok Stadium on Thursday, June 28.
The hostess for the evening will be BBC Radio Five Live presenter Victoria Derbyshire, who is originally from Bury, and the entertainment will be provided by North-west comedian and star of Phoenix Nights, Ted Robbins.
The organisers are expecting to top the previous number of entries - nearly 100 - after the success of last year's event.
The awards are presented by The Bolton News and The Bury Times in association with Business Bolton and the awards ceremony promises to be a fantastic night and businesses are urged to book their tables early.
