AN energy company is helping its staff to relax and promoting local artists at the same time.
Staff at E.ON, which employs 1,200 people at its customer service centre at Parklands in Horwich, have opened an art gallery in the building, and filled it with work by local artists.
The artists, from across the North-west, are members of Liberart, a unique art rental scheme that aims to link businesses with art.
Formed in October last year, Liberart is a not-for-profit organisation, with a percentage of the rental fee going directly to the artist.
The scheme operates from the Enterprise Centre on Washington Street and exhibitions can be exchanged every 12 months.
Caroline Linfitt, Julie Halls and Kathryn Smith are the founders of Liberart. Kathryn said: "We promote artwork from under-represented artists. Some of them have experienced different or often difficult life situations.
"All the paintings are originals, and alongside each piece is a framed message from the artist, providing a thoughtful, powerful display "We are thrilled with the contract with E.ON. We are sure the paintings will inspire staff and visitors alike."
Chris Keeton, E.ON's facilities team co-ordinator said: "There has been a very positive response to the gallery here at Parklands. The art is not only pleasing to the eye, but it also has a deeper message that is powerfully thought provoking and refreshingly encouraging."
Michelle Goodfellow, E.ON's customer service manager said: "The pictures do look fantastic and it is rewarding to know we are supporting our local community."
Anyone interested in the scheme can contact Liberart on 01204 537790, email enquiries@liberart.
