SNOW showers may have signalled a return to winter but in Blackrod spring is blooming.
Thanks to the efforts of resident Dorothy Benson and other volunteers including local schoolchildren, daffodils have been planted outside the village library, at Scot Lane End School and at Blackrod Brow.
The volunteers bought and planted the bulbs and now the results of their efforts are beginning to be seen.
Mrs Benson, who co-ordinated the effort, said: "It is the first time we have done anything like this and it has brightened up the village "
Fellow volunteer Joan Hamer said: "Dorothy is always helping in whatever she can. She works tirelessly for charity and this is just another example of what she does. The village looks stunning and puts a smile on people's faces."
