A BUSKER'S song about Bolton is becoming a runaway success - and as a result it is now available as an MP3 download.
The song, Bolton Town, was penned by singer-songwriter Nick Bold.
He was inspired to write it after years of entertaining shoppers in the town centre.
A video of the song, which Nick performs with bandmate Linda Jennings, has been placed on The Bolton News website and has attracted web readers in droves.
They called for it to be made available for use on MP3 players and as a mobile phone ringtone.
And we were happy to oblige. Readers can now head here and download it, with most of the money going to our GHarden of Tranquillity Appeal for Bolton Hospice.
A chorus of people are urging record bosses to snap him up.
Nick, who has toured with rock legend Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin and recorded an album with Roger Taylor from Queen, has been overwhelmed by the support.
He said: "I am very flattered. Of course, I would love to play at Reebok.
"It would be great if all the people who like it would get behind my band and they can check out my website for a gig list.
"I'm looking forward to hearing that ringtone all over Bolton."
The song brings in many of Bolton's heroes past and present, including Fred Dibnah, Nat Lofthouse and Peter Kay.
But it also pays tribute to the ordinary folk who make the town great.
