HAYWARD SCHOOL St Michaels narrowly beat Clarendon in a closely-fought indoor athletics tournament hosted by Hayward School which went to the last race.

Six feeder primary schools entered with five boys and five girls competing in six field and eight track events.

It was organised by David Purnell, the School Sport Co-ordinator along with 11 junior sports leaders from Year 10.

St Michaels' victory means they will compete in the Bolton schools championships final at Smithhills High School tomorrow.

National Schools' Lacrosse: Bolton School U15 won two, drew one and lost three matches; Bolton Seniors (Day One) drew one, lost five and finished seventh in the section. Day two: finished second in section seven.

National Schools' Netball Finals: U17 (playing in the U18 competition) won four, drew one, lost three and finished fifth in their section.
