TODAY marks the 140th anniversary of the founding of The Bolton News.
Since that day back in 1867 when W. F. Tillotson published Britain's first evening newspaper, its journalists have reported on events locally and across the world.
The Bolton Evening News was the main source of news and information for the townspeople, bringing news from the two world wars, four FA Cup final victories for Bolton Wanderers and major local stories including the Pretoria Pit disaster and the huge blaze which destroyed the Albert Hall.
Last year, the paper changed its name to The Bolton News when it switched to overnight printing and began distributing papers throughout the day.
To mark the 140th anniversary, The Bolton News will be publishing a series of supplements, looking back at the changing face of Bolton and the surrounding towns and how many of the major events were covered.
And we would like readers and advertisers to help us compile what will be a unique and collectable record of local life across the years.
