You've got to wonder about whether Sonic should be hung out to dry after the Xbox 360's below-par next-gen offering, but thankfully, this all-new Wii adventure with the legendary blue hedgehog fares a hell of a lot better.
The trademark speed and attitude are still there, and gone are the paltry partners - this time he's on his own in the colourful and vibrant world of the Arabian Nights tales.
The game makes custom use of the Wii to great effect, as you hurtle Sonic forward by rotating the controller from side to side and perform combo moves with a flick of the wrist.
The levels are fantastically designed, look great and with more than 30 party games to get your teeth into once the missions have been completed, Secret Rings marks a long-overdue return to form for Sonic.
