THE £84 million plan to build two new campuses for Bolton Sixth Form College would transform post-GCSE education in this town.
The scheme includes a £14 million campus on the site of the former Queen Street Primary School in Farnworth and a £70 million campus in Bolton town centre.
However, planning bosses have ordered a scaling down of the plans, and now the whole project is in jeopardy due to potential delays.
Towns such as Bolton do not get many opportunities to spend such a large amount of money on new educational facilities and, if the creation of new plans causes a lengthy delay, other places will step in and claim the cash.
If this opportunity is lost, the powers that be in Bolton may well have cause to look back and regret their indecision.
