RENEWED calls for traffic calming measures on a rat run road have been made by councillors.
Members of Westhoughton town council have backed residents' calls to improve safety and slow down speeding drivers in Molyneux Road, Westhoughton.
Cllr Arthur Price said he was particularly concerned about children going to St Thomas Chequerbent primary school at one end of the road and Lilliputs Day Nursery at the other end.
Last month, a Bolton Council spokesman said safety measures would not be considered as the road was not a priority compared to other roads in the area.
Residents want to see improvements similar to those in neighbouring Cherwell Road, where a 20-mph speed limit was introduced, as well as 15 speed humps and a chicane.
Cllr Price said: "I'm fed up with officers saying the road doesn't warrant safety measures.
"Residents wouldn't be asking for them if that were the case. We at least want to see a road safety scheme trialled."
