LITTLE baby Ruby Fallingham got to meet the hero who saved her life.
Trainee firefighter Ian Nicholson, aged 29, was the guest of honour at the tot's first birthday party on Tuesday.
Last Wednesday Mr Nicholson noticed Ruby's mum, Lorna Smith, was distressed as he was cycling past them in Newbrook Road, Over Hulton, on his way to work.
He stopped to help and saw that Ruby was not breathing and used the first aid skills he learned two weeks earlier to bring her round.
Miss Smith said: "Ian is our hero, it is great that he was able to come to the party."
Ruby has now made a full recovery following her ordeal last week. Her life had been saved earlier in the day by her childminder, Jacky Seddon, and she was taken to hospital on two occasions but doctors are puzzled as to what caused her to stop breathing.
