A CONSUMER group has launched legal action against Wigan-based JJB Sports on behalf of fans who were overcharged for football shirts.
Which? wants compensation for shoppers who bought the Manchester United and England shirts during 2000 and 2001.
It is the first organisation to sue a firm on behalf of a group of consumers under the Enterprise Act 2002.
JJB Sports was one of a group of companies fined by the Office of Fair Trading in 2003 over football shirt price fixing. The sportswear chain was ordered to pay a £6.7m fine.
