JLLOYD Samuel has admitted he could be forced to assess a range of options - including a summer transfer to Bolton - if he doesn't get the assurances he is looking for at Aston Villa.
The former England Under-21 defender, who is struggling to establish himself in Martin O'Neill's plans after months of injury frustration, could be on the move at the end of the season if his situation does not improve. And Wanderers are likely to be one of the clubs prepared to give him another chance to establish himself as a Premiership regular.
Sam Allardyce has confirmed an interest in the 25-year-old left back, but could face competition from Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.
Samuel, who has strong connections with the Bolton area, still hopes he has a future at Villa Park, but is taking nothing for granted.
"There has been a lot of speculation linking me to Bolton Wanderers recently, as well as Middlesbrough and Portsmouth," he told Villa's official website.
"I don't know a great deal about it to be honest, I'm just concentrating on on my football for Aston Villa.
"Personally, I am dying to get another chance to show what I can do. I am always hungry to play, no matter what game it is.
"You've always got to stay positive and expect that you're going to get an opportunity to play.
"I'm not thinking that it's not going to happen. But if you aren't playing towards the end of the season you have got to look at other options. We'll have to see what happens in May."
