BRITISH athlete Jenny Meadows was the guest celebrity at the Horwich RMI presentation evening, attended by more than 150 people.
Jenny has competed at International level including World Championships for a number of years, and recently ran the third fastest indoor 800m by a British athlete.
The presentations reflected an outstanding 2006 for the Horwich RMI Harrier juniors.
The most prestigious awards on the night went to Jack Thomas and Rebecca Norris, who were jointly awarded the Junior Athlete of the Year title, and to Joe Christopher and April Stevenson who were presented with The Les Myers Trophies for Track and Field, awarded to the most outstanding junior performers of the year (male and female).
During the last year a record number of the club's athletes won county medals ,and went on to represent their counties in track and field championships, and last month the club had its first national champion in nearly half a century, in April Stevenson.
