BUS passengers in Blackrod and Adlington are celebrating after getting an hourly bus service to Chorley.
More than 600 people signed a petition asking for the service and their campaign was led by Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle.
Now Lancashire County Council has announced that it will start in May.
The Stagecoach bus will run from Blackrod to Chorley via Lower Adlington.
It replaces the existing 315 Middlebrook to Chorley service and will start on May 8.
The 3/3A service will operate from 7.07am to 7.32pm Monday to Saturday and there will be 25 return journeys a day, compared to the nine operated by the 315 service.
It will use low floor, easy access buses to help the elderly and disabled and passengers with child buggies.
John Timms, chairman of Blackrod Residents Association, said: "This is excellent news for Blackrod and Adlington resident "The service will be beneficial for elderly residents and schoolchildren who travel to Chorley."
