KIMBERLEY Walsh from Girls Aloud has been describing her experiences in South Africa, on a recent Comic Relief trip.
She said: "One of the things that I'll remember most from my trip to South Africa was visiting a family who were being forced from their land, as developers wanted to make way for a large housing development.
"These people had lived on the land their entire lives, some family members even buried there. Only a week before we visited, a group of men had come and spray painted their front doors, forcing them out.
"These people were living in fear, and just a stones throw away people were living in luxurious housing - the contrast was just surreal.
"But there was also hope - we met the head of the family, Joseph who told us how a project funded by money raised from Red Nose Day had stepped in to help the family fight for their land.
"It definitely puts in perspective what you have at home. The trip has made me realise how fortunate we are here, and we really must do everything we can to help support people less fortunate than ourselves."
Kimberley made the trip to South Africa with Keisha Buchanana and Heidi Range from the Sugababes, with whom Girls Aloud have recorded a cover of Aerosmith's Walk This way for the charity.
