CASTAWAY Erica Hurst struck gold twice when she not only found a treasure chest in the island's vegetable patch, but also discovered a boat on the beach.
The 22-year-old former lap dancer was working with new-found friend Francie in the vegetable plot when she came across the mystery chest, containing luxuries such as tea bags, sugar, a newspaper and orange juice.
Erica, from Kearsley, said: "I was in the garden, hoeing, when I struck something. At first I thought I'd broken the garden, but we got our fingers underneath it and there it was, the buried treasure chest."
Then later in the programme, again with Francie, this time on the beach, Erica was one of the Castaways to discover the buried boat, which the storms that had been battering the island uncovered.
Elsewhere on Great Barrier Island, which is just off the coast of New Zealand, the wet weather got the Castaways down, but Francie managed to lift the mood by baking fresh bread.
Jason, the member of the group who has been exiled to a deserted beach for a week because he was deemed the laziest person in the gang, struggled to cope in the storm and the remaining Castaways began to hatch a plot to rescue him.
