THE Farnworth Winter Rounders League had just four matches because Victoria have withdrawn and Daves Shoes & Keys could not raise a team.
This meant that FSCCC and Blades Barbers picked up points by default which put them in second and third places in the table.
Blades are level with Hanson A on 25 points after Hanson lost by 14 runs to AJs who are now just two points behind them.
Surprise of the day was the match between leaders Adlington and second from bottom North House Ladies who had just six players.
After one innings each, North House were 13 runs ahead at 71-58, but in their second innings, the first North House batter scored one run, the next five were dismissed without scoring, three caught out and two hit out, and the last batter added two before being "denned".
With a couple of bad balls, their second innings total was a mere five runs, while Adlington added 75 in their second innings for a comfortable win after an almighty scare.
Contract Services and Capital both had players short, with eight and nine respectively. After the first innings, Capital were 11 ahead then went on to win by 31.
Little Lever AFC have had a topsy-turvy season and after beating Hanson B by 37 have now won seven and lost seven.
In the Halliwell League, Division One leaders, and champions, Westhoughton & District, lost for only the second time this season when the 70 run handicap start to the competent Young Darcy side proved too much with some of their regular players on holiday. The champions scored 45 in the first innings and held Young Darcy to 43 then dismissed them in 17 balls for 19 runs in the second innings, but they were only able to add 67 themselves and lost by 20.
It was not such a good day for Darcy Mums who gave Fox Trots a 10 run start and lost by 17. The remaining match in Division One saw Future XI face Wallys XI, a new young team which has replaced Coronado Ladies. Future were less than pleased at having to give their opponents a 40-run start when they were depleted, but they were level at the interval and went on to win by a comfortable 57 run margin.
