A DIY enthusiast who had climbed on to his roof to fix a television aerial had to be rescued by firefighters after his ladder slipped and left him stranded.
Roy Faulkner, aged 53, had gone up to the ridge at the top of his two-storey house in Green Lane, Great Lever, to adjust his television aerial.
While he was working 30 feet above the ground, he heard his ladder fall and clatter to the ground and realised he was stuck.
Mr Faulkner managed to get the attention of a neighbour who rang for help.
Firefighters used their ladders to rescue Mr Faulkner at 1.15pm on Saturday.
Watch manager Dave Pimblett, of Bolton Central Fire Station, said: "He had become a bit concerned by the time we arrived, but it was very straightforward to get him down."
