JOHN Cunliffe continued the promising start to his professional football career in the United States when he scored on for Major League Soccer club Chivas USA at the weekend.
The Bolton-born striker came off the substitutes' bench to grab an 82nd-minute equaliser in a pre-season clash with Houston Dynamo, the reigning MLS Cup champions, on Saturday morning.
The 22-year-old joined Chivas, who share their ground with LA Galaxy, the club David Beckham will be joining this summer from Real Madrid, after completing his studies at Fort Lewis College in Colarado.
Cunliffe, a former Turton High School pupil from Edgworth, had only been on the pitch 17 minutes when he struck his side's only goal in the 1-1 draw.
