PARENTS who experience difficulties in bringing up their children are to receive help from a new "super nanny".

This is good news for those in the town who are often on the receiving end of verbal abuse, and worse, from out of control youngsters.

The "Senior Parenting Practitioner" will be employed initially for one year and will be helped by two support workers.

This is new Government money designed to tackle a recognised social problem and the new super nanny will be helping around 35 to 40 families in Bolton every year.

But anti-social behaviour has been with us for a long time and will remain for a lot longer than one year.

So why is the post being funded for just for 12 months?

If the Government sees anti-social behaviour as a problem, and it says it does, then it must fund these kind of jobs properly over the long term or else it is in danger of simply paying lip service to a serious problem which is blighting many people's lives.
