A NURSERY worker is retiring from the playgroup she helped to set-up more than 30 years ago.
Mavis Weaver, aged 62, was a founder member of Daisy Hill Pre School, which opened in 1974.
It was set-up by a group of mums to fill a gap in childcare provision in the area.
The nursery school currently has 30 children on its register and operates from the United Reform Church hall, in Park Road, Westhoughton.
Youngsters will enjoy a party when Mrs Weaver, of West Grove, Daisy Hill, retires at the end of the month.
She said: "I've loved my work. I've seen children that I've taught become parents and bring their own kids to us. I'll miss it but I'm looking forward to my retirement."
