ANIMAL lover Dave Spikey has been signed up to perform at a special one-off gig tonight to raise money for charity.
The Phoenix Nights and Eight out of Ten Cats star will perform at Bury Met on Sunday night.
All money raised will go towards Pet Rehome, a charity that he is a patron of.
Spikey, who once owned nine dogs, said: "I used to rescue animals and had a sanctuary before I got busy travelling around.
"In the past we had goats, sheep, turkeys and all sorts in the garden."
The Bolton comedian got involved with Pet Rehome, after offering a home to dogs the pet rescue charity had taken in.
One of the dogs he has at the moment, a Yorkshire Terrier called Pippa, was a rescue dog.
He said: "Someone had thrown her in the river in a bin bag. I just cannot understand why someone would do something like that."
An Audience with Dave Spikey, which is a sell-out, is at The Met in Bury on Sunday at 7.30pm.
If anyone wants to become a foster carer for Pet Rehome, or wants to give an abandoned pet a permanent home, call the charity on 01204 304679.
