BOLTON pop star Danny Jones is throwing a lavish 21st birthday party at a secret venue outside London.
Danny, the frontman for the successful pop rockers McFly, will celebrate his birthday in style with his family, fellow band members and friends.
Though his birthday falls on Monday, March 12, Danny will hold the party at a large country house just outside of London today.
Other McFly members, Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter, along with his mother Cathy and sister Vicky will attend the party.
And, as part of his celebrations Danny, whose family live in Bromley Cross, invited his best friend from his schooldays at Thornleigh Salesian College, Alex Wright, to play a gig at his birthday bash.
Alex, who is a student at LIPA in Liverpool and whose family live in Darcy Lever, Bolton, will perform in front of McFly and invited celebrities with his band We See Foxes.
At Danny's invitation We See Foxes opened for McFly on the second of two sell out nights at the MEN Arena last year where they played in front of 15,000 fans.
Danny joined McFly in 2002 just after he started a music course at Bury College with Alex.
He answered a music press advert and met up with Tom Fletcher and began writing songs along with James from the former boy band, Busted.
Once the other members had been recruited, McFly released their first single in early 2004 Five Colours in her Hair which shot to the top of the charts.
To date, McFly have had 11 number one singles and two number one albums with their third album charting at number six.
They began their touring career in 2004 when they supported Busted and have since had three sell-out national tours of their own.
McFly's latest single Transylvania was due to be released in February but has been put back to May because of filming commitments for Comic Relief.
The band recently returned from fiming in Africa where they have been finding out for themselves how funds they helped raise have been put to use.
They visited the township of Kamwokya in Uganda where Comic Relief has been helping educate children and to run clinics.
Since the band last visited Uganda two years ago they have seen great improvements. Money raised from McFly's double A side single All About You/You've Got A Friend' helped Comic Relief build vital services including a three-storey school and paid for more doctors in local clinics which serve thousands of people.
Danny said: "It's really rewarding because we saw what the money from the single did. It changes the way you think about life."
The boys have been touring the UK since their return visiting British projects funded by Comic Relief.
