DRIVERS will face disruption in Bolton town centre over the next two weekends as road resurfacing work is carried out.

The work at the junction of Deansgate, Bradshawgate and Churchgate will take place this Sunday and on Sunday March 18.

Road closures and diversions will be in place but the work is being done on Sundays to minimise disruption to weekday commuters. On Sunday March 11, both Churchgate and Deansgate will be closed at the junction with Bradshawgate.

The diversion caused by the closure of Churchgate will be via Silverwell Street and Princess Street.

The Deansgate diversion will be via Bank Street, Manor Street and Bow Street.

On Sunday March 18, Churchgate will be closed at the junction with Bradshawgate with a diversion via Silverwell Street and Princess Street in operation.

Bank Street will be closed to northbound traffic with a diversion via Deansgate, Bridge Street and Bow Street.

A temporary 10mph speed limit for southbound traffic on Bank Street will be in place along with a convoy system to direct vehicles through the works.

Council engineers have been working with local contractor Kennedy Asphalt to manage the changes in a way that ensures safety of motorists and engineers.
