POLICE arrested four people in raids on homes this morning in the wake of violence in Little Hulton pubs at the weekend.

Officers searched six homes and a pub as part of ongoing investigations into the discovery of weapons hauls at the Top Club and the White Lion, Manchester Road West.

Knives, swords and baseball bats were found by police in the pubs on Saturday, after reports of fighting among masked men armed with snooker cues.

Extra patrols have been deployed to the area.

Chief Superintendent Kevin Mulligan said: "We will not tolerate violent behaviour in Salford. We are dedicated to ensuring that weapons are taken off the streets of Salford and that the community is a safe place for the law-abiding residents who live here.

"Today's warrants are a response to the concerning incidents last weekend. We want to send a strong message to anyone involved in this sort of criminality that we are here, we are watching you and sooner or later, we will come and get you.

"Extra patrols will remain in the Little Hulton area this evening in order to reassure local residents and prevent further disturbances.

"If you do have any information about these incidents, or any concerns about activity in the area, then please contact police immediately, anonymously if you wish."
