RESIDENTS are enjoying the first signs of spring in Westhoughton.
Members of the Wingates Residents' Association oversaw the planting of 17,000 bulbs in the area last autumn.
And they are now enjoying thousands of blooming lovely daffodils and crocuses that are adorning grass verges around the Wingates estate and at Howe Bridge Crematorium and Cemetery.
Thousands of bulbs - worth £1,000 - were bought with a grant from the Westhoughton Neighbourhood Panel.
Lawrence Owens, of Wingates Residents Association, said: "They are really helping to brighten up the area, it's looking first class."
