WORK has started to transform a betting shop into a trendy bar and restaurant.
The building, in Market Street, Westhoughton, will be a "high class" venue which will open until midnight on weekdays and 1am at weekends.
The former bank, and more recently betting shop, will be extended and renovated by applicant La Copa.
Plans which include a white door and window frames and natural lighting through a conservatory-style roof, received the go-ahead from Bolton Council planners last November.
Architect Ming Lee said that preparatory work has started on the site.
Mr Lee, of Lee Architects, said: "We hope it's going to be an exclusive venue and a great, trendy addition to the town. We want to help uplift the area."
