A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing 12 distraction burglaries following an appeal on BBC's Crimewatch last night.
The appeal for information concerned a man who police believe to be responsible for up to 60 distraction burglaries across the region.
He is believed to have struck in Bolton and other parts of the north, stealing money from his victims.
The man was arrested in Accrington last night on suspicion of committing 12 distraction burglaries, following a number of calls from the public. He is currently in police custody for questioning.
Officers are still encouraging anyone who thinks that they may have any information about the man to contact the incident room at Ashton on 0161 856 9133.
