KEVIN MITCHELL has challenged Amir Khan to put his money where his mouth is.

Unbeaten East Ender Mitchell was not impressed when his stablemate Khan said he could polish him off with the kind of power punch that flattened Mohammed Medjadi at Wembley last month.

The Bolton boxer disposed of Medjadi in 55 seconds for his 11th successive win, while it took Mitchell six rounds to beat the same fighter in December 2005.

But Mighty Mitch - who defends his Commonwealth superfeather weight crown against South African Harry Ramogoadi at Liverpool Olympia on Saturday - believes he could defeat Khan.

The two fighters, however, are managed by Frank Warren and therefore an early match-up looks unlikely.

Khan will be more interested in seeing who his next opponent will be when he returns to the ring at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, April 7.

Mitchell, who has stopped 15 of his 22 rivals, said of Khan: "I thought he impressed and looked good in what he did, but when he came out and said that I had to smile.

"He's got to learn not to run with his mouth, because if he keeps doing that he's going to come unstuck in this game.

"Put him in the ring with me tomorrow and I promise he wouldn't go four rounds and I'll put my money where my mouth is. If you put the earnings we'd both get out of the fight in one pot I'd be taking the pot home.

"He looks good at what he's doing in there with featherweights, but when you see him fight a feller of his own size, like his previous opponent, he had a bit of trouble.""

Khan took the unanimous points decision in a 10-rounder against Rachid Drilzane at London's ExCel Arena in December.

But Mitchell said: "He didn't know what to do, got caught with a couple of silly little shots and seemed a bit sheepish to me.

"And, talking of his power, if he hits that hard, he'd have knocked Drilzane out as well."

Alongside Mitchell on a tasty-looking bill is Souleymane M'Baye, who defends his WBA world light-welter title against Andre as Kotelnik, while WBU featherweight holder Derry Matthews takes on John Simpson.
