A BROWNIE leader who helped young girls learn life skills for 20 years has retired.
Cecilia Hill, aged 65, dedicated her time to the Brownies for 16 years before going on to work with the younger Rainbows for four years.
She was overwhelmed when the children wished her farewell at her final meeting this week.
Cecilia said: "I'm very sad to leave, but all good things come to an end.
"Some of the Rainbows I helped who have now moved on to Brownies came back, which was a lovely surprise.
"I was overwhelmed by the whole situation. I have received so many cards and flowers."
Mrs Hill said she remembers many good times with the Brownies and Rainbows, based at St John's School, in Bromley Cross.
She added: "I hope I have helped these girls learn skills which they will carry with them for life.
"It was a sad time and the Rainbows started crying, which set me off, but I have to go now I have reached 65."
