AMERICAN jazz musician Jim Fryer, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the UK, will be a guest soloist with the Colin Galbraith Trio at a concert at Bolton Cricket Club on Saturday, March 17.
Fryer, who plays trombone, cornet and euphonium, is one of the best-known and respected trad jazz players on America's East Coast and his Bolton appearance is bound to trigger much interest from jazz fans.
Keyboard player Colin Galbraith has been a "face" on the North-west jazz scene for many years.
His fellow musicians, Nick Blacka (bass) and Rob Turner (drums), have impressive CVs and, with Galbraith, produce stomping rhythms.
Sharing the front line with Jim Fryer will be vocalist Scarlett Rutherford, a student at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, who has sung with the trio at the Keswick and Lancaster jazz festivals and whose repertoire ranges from Bessie Smith to Norah Jones.
The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets, priced £8, can be obtained on 01204 520230 or 07973122115.
